Ernest Hilton

This marks the end of an incredible era at WLGI 90.9 FM Radio Baha'i as we bid farewell to one of the most cherished voices in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee communities—Mr. Ernest Hilton. After nearly four decades of unwavering service, Ernest is retiring, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate for years.

Ernest joined WLGI in the fall of 1986, and from that moment forward, his deep, rich baritone voice became an integral part of our station's identity. For countless listeners, his voice wasn't just a sound on the airwaves; it was a warm embrace, a familiar friend, and a reminder that they were part of something bigger—a family.

Throughout his remarkable career, Ernest poured his heart and soul into every moment on air. The music you’ve loved and cherished all these years? Each track was carefully chosen by him, reflecting not just his impeccable taste, but also his deep commitment to the principles of the Baha'i Faith. Ernest made sure that the music uplifted, inspired, and aligned with the values of unity, love, and service that Radio Baha’i represents.

His dedication extended far beyond the studio. At remote broadcasts and community events, people would flock to the Radio Baha'i tent to share how much his presence meant to them. Whether they were long-time listeners or tuning in for the first time, Ernest made everyone feel valued, heard, and appreciated.

As we celebrate his retirement, we know the void he leaves behind won’t easily be filled. He will maintain his morning air shift but will be retiring from his day-to-day role. Ernest, you’ve touched countless lives, and your voice will always be a part of the heart and soul of this station. From all of us here at WLGI and the community you’ve served so selflessly—thank you.

You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will continue to inspire us all.

Happy retirement, Ernest Hilton. May this next chapter of your life be as fulfilling and impactful as the incredible journey you’ve shared with us.

With love and gratitude,

Your WLGI Family
